Getting Your Vehicle Prepped For Any Situation

Dedicated trades working in almost any field rely on their vehicles to get out there and serve their customers. Whether you are a HVAC professional moving heating and air supplies around or a construction worker helping shape buildings and landmarks, there are many tools you probably depend on in your van.

From quality storage drawer systems from specialised companies, to a few steps you can take to make sure your work vehicle is always prepared, there are some easy things you can do in order to get life in your work vehicle more organised and efficient.

Get Organised With Custom Storage Drawers

One of the first things you should consider in your work van is quality storage drawers. From larger lifted storage drawers to handy slide-out drawer systems, there are various options for installing organised and spacious storage compartments that will help keep tools off the floor and within reach at a moment's notice. These kinds of solutions available from reputable vendors like Best Off Road help you stay organised, keep your tools and equipment in place when you need them most, and allow you to work with more efficiency.

Consider using a portable tool chest for the inside of your truck cab, so that basic sockets and wrenches are always within reach. If space is limited, consider keeping an emergency toolbox within arms length so you can get those essential items when you need them the most.

Consider Keeping Some Extra Clothing in the Vehicle

Even when you are a professional, emergencies happen. If your vehicle breaks down or you get stranded for an extended period of time due to weather conditions or another event out of your control, it can be helpful to have extra clothing with you at all times. A jacket and sturdy pair of shoes is one thing most people forget about when thinking about potential items to pack just to be prepared.

If it helps, you might also consider keeping another change of your work clothes with you. Depending on the field you are in, accidents can occur, and there is nothing wrong with having a spare change of clothes handy right in your vehicle when you need them.

Keep a Spare Tyre, Just in Case

One of the biggest concerns when it comes to vehicles is keeping things in top condition. If you have a flat tyre, there are some ways you can stay safe while driving, but if it happens at an inopportune time or location, you could be exposed to potential dangers and risks that make your work day more difficult than expected.

With this in mind, it is crucial to go ahead and ensure that you have a spare tyre at your disposal should the worst happen. It can take time to change a flat, sure - but it is much better than having to wait on someone to arrive to help you. As you are surely thinking, this is time you could have been spending helping customers!

Consider Keeping a Few Basic Tools in Your Car

If you are a mechanic or someone who tends to cars and vehicles frequently, keeping speciality tools in your vehicle might be appropriate. For everyone else, however, there is no reason not to keep at least the most basic of tools on-hand in case of emergencies.

Some common items that should be on-hand but are often overlooked include:

A vehicle jack

An air gauge

A tyre iron

The above items can be used to help you handle a situation in nearly any condition. These kinds of tools will allow you to handle most minor emergencies without having to go and get them, and can even be paired with a mechanical kit if you feel the need.

As always, safety is your number one concern, so why not consider keeping a first aid kit in your vehicle, as well? Having one on hand will allow you to take care of little scrapes and cuts that might happen in the field without having to wait for others.

Lastly, if you aren't already, consider keeping your favourite snacks with you at all times - whether it when breakfast or a mid-afternoon snack. While this might not seem like an important thing, it could help give you that little boost of energy right when you need it the most.

Getting Organised For Any Event

There isn't a better feeling than the one of knowing you are prepared in case of an emergency. When you depend on your work vehicle, there is no reason to take some time to make sure it is stocked with what you might need should the worst ever happen while you are out on the job.
